Reflection

See how I grew in the four focus competencies and leadership labs and I how I will use what I learned to progress professionally and personally with leadership at the center of all that I do.

How will I apply what I learned from the leadership labs experiences to my future endeavors?

The leadership labs have shaped how I want to lead in the future, especially as I pursue a career in sustainable agribusiness. I hope to create products that support both farmers and the environment, and leadership is essential to turning that vision into reality. Whether I’m developing a new farm-waste product in NAMA, planning outreach with ACE Ambassadors, or supporting sisters in Sigma Alpha, I now lead with intention and connection.

The labs showed me that strong leaders aren’t just task-driven—they’re people-focused. My biggest takeaways were the importance of empathy, relationship building, and making space for every voice. I’ll carry those lessons into every team, internship, and leadership role I take on.

In the future, whether I’m working with farmers or selling innovative seed technologies, I’ll rely on these skills to form authentic partnerships. I want to be known as someone who listens, unites others, and leads with a service-driven mindset. From the field to the boardroom, the labs taught me how to connect with people while staying true to my values.

Reflection of the Program as a Whole

Reflecting on my experience in the Leadership Certificate Program, I am surprised by how much I have learned. I did not expect the workshops and labs to be so thoughtful and focused, but each one offered clear, memorable insights. Although the leadership labs required a big time commitment, setting personal goals helped me stay present and motivated throughout the experience. What stood out most was how complex leadership really is. I used to see it as a matter of confidence, but now I understand it involves emotional awareness, self regulation, and genuine connection.

This program has helped me become a more intentional and inclusive leader. In group settings, I make an effort to create space for others, especially those who may not speak up easily. I check in with teammates, seek a range of input, and think more critically about how to support others. Collaborating with people from many backgrounds also helped me grow in cultural awareness. I have come to see leadership not just as driving results but as creating environments where people feel supported and able to grow.

If I had to choose one film that represents my leadership journey, it would be Wreck It Ralph. Ralph begins the movie unsure of his role and worth, but through connecting with others, he finds meaning beyond himself. His growth reflects my own realization that leadership is not about being recognized. It is about forming meaningful relationships, lifting others up, and working together to create something bigger than what any one person could do alone. That is the kind of leader I want to be.
